In the Edo period, from the 17th to the 19th century, people did not have baths at home. Public baths were built to meet the needs. There were about six hundred in Edo. Originally, it was steam baths, and later large collective baths. As all the bathers were naked and mingled regardless of age, sex or rank, the bathhouse was an egalitarian place. Apparently, another popular element shared was a scented lotion made with floral essences distilled in a ranbiki (Japanese still). This fragrance, Yuya no-shizuku, adds a warm glow as you leave the bath.10 cm X 6.5 cm X 2 cm wooden box with 60 incense sticks and an incense holder.
